Methodology · Version 1.0 draft

Measure the completed week.

2LF uses a documented Friday-to-Friday process to explain observed market performance and verified developments across America’s manufacturing supply chain.

Market calculations

One period. One price convention.

Weekly calculations use adjusted closing prices so stock splits and dividends are handled consistently. If Friday is not a regular market session, 2LF uses the final regular session of that week and displays the exact date.

Weekly Return %((Current Friday Adjusted Close ÷ Previous Friday Adjusted Close) − 1) × 100
Relative Return %Company Weekly Return % − Assigned Benchmark Weekly Return %
Volume RatioAverage Volume During Measurement Week ÷ Average Volume During Previous 20 Trading Sessions

Every dataset must state its start date, end date, price type, source, time zone and last verification time. U.S. market-session dates use America/New_York.

Retrospective research measure

2LF Manufacturing Momentum Score

The 2LF Manufacturing Momentum Score is a retrospective research measure summarizing observed market, operating, investment and policy developments during a completed weekly period. It is not a prediction, security rating or investment recommendation.

Score = (0.25 × Market Factor) + (0.20 × Relative Factor) + (0.10 × Volume Factor) + (0.15 × Company Development Factor) + (0.15 × Domestic Investment Factor) + (0.15 × Policy and Contract Factor)

Labels describe the completed measurement period only. When required inputs are missing, 2LF displays “Not scored—insufficient verified data.” Every score states its methodology version, effective date, data period, completeness, included factors, supporting developments and any manual editorial input.

Provider-neutral architecture

Licensed end-of-day data, normalized once.

The market-data layer is designed as an adapter so an approved provider can be changed without rewriting presentation components. Provider credentials remain server-side and are never included in browser code, public configuration, network calls from a visitor’s device or repository files.

Validated records may be cached to prevent a provider request for every visit. Before an approved feed is connected, 2LF supports a manually maintained structured dataset. No sample prices are shown publicly.

Weekly publication workflow

Human review is the release gate.

  1. 01Wait until the final regular market session of the week has closed.
  2. 02Retrieve finalized end-of-day prices from an approved provider.
  3. 03Validate missing tickers, corporate actions and abnormal values.
  4. 04Calculate weekly returns and performance relative to assigned benchmarks.
  5. 05Attach verified company and manufacturing developments.
  6. 06Generate a draft weekly snapshot.
  7. 07Require human editorial review.
  8. 08Publish only after approval.
  9. 09Preserve the original published snapshot.
  10. 10Record subsequent corrections transparently.

Editorial integrity

Sources, distinctions and corrections.

  • Cite original sources and separate facts from commentary.
  • Identify event, reporting and verification dates.
  • Preserve previously published reports and never silently revise historical results.
  • Disclose material holdings, compensation, sponsorship and other conflicts.
  • Distinguish announced projects from funded, constructed and operational capacity.
  • Distinguish historical measurement from future expectations.

A corrected report states what changed, the date and reason for the correction, and whether a ranking or score changed.

Data availability

Useful records survive provider interruptions.

When a provider is unavailable, the most recent verified dataset remains visible with its verification time. A stale dataset is labeled stale; it is not replaced by an endless loading indicator or an unverified value.
