The book’s geography

BOOK Proteus Ver 0.1, Chapter 23, pages 145–149, argues for regional specialization linked through common standards and logistics.

Proteus — Technical Appendices A–M (August 2026), Appendix K, provides all 50 state screening roles. Appendix L places the reference campus in southern Columbus/Pickaway County, Ohio. These are manuscript proposals, not present-day facility facts.

What remains unresolved

This initial directory verifies a small set of facility capabilities in 8 states. Other states remain open research tasks. It is not a census of American industry.

Motors, sensors, connectors, bearings, wiring, polymers, glass fiber, tooling, robotics and inspection equipment need deeper facility-level coverage. Cells do not establish pack supply; fabs do not establish domestic packaging.

USGS’s 2026 natural graphite summary is a starting point for upstream dependence research. No complete domestic battery chain is claimed here.

The $100 figure remains a research target. No production cost, domestic-content certification or supplier commitment is established by this map.
